In Symbiosis of Life 7, three human profiles emerge among leaves and flowers. In the upper left, an owl with golden eyes gazes out of the picture. A turquoise-eyed feline draws attention to the centre. In the upper right, the curved beak of a brightly coloured bird follows the line of a leaf. Lower down, a pointed muzzle appears among the greenery.
Cobalt blue and turquoise recur in faces, feathers and leaves. Yellow glows beside red and orange. Dark outlines give the fields of colour the character of stained glass. The curve of a forehead continues into a leaf, weaving people, animals and plants together through the drawing itself.
Up close, each field of colour breaks into miniature photographs. The mosaic contains 67,600 images from MikoArt’s own portfolio. Fragments of earlier artworks appear within an eye, a feather or a flower. Each miniature adds colour and texture to the larger form.
Step back and the different gazes begin to organise the composition. The profiles on either side turn towards the centre, where the feline looks directly at the viewer. Leaves and flower stems then draw the eye towards the edges.
