About this work

Symbiosis of Life 4 brings humans, animals and nature together in an exuberant, dreamlike composition. Several stylized human faces and watchful eyes emerge among a bird, a butterfly, flowers, leaves, branches, seed heads, clouds, the sun and a human-like moon. The forms interlock to create a living universe in which day and night, growth and consciousness are connected.

Intense turquoise, blue, red, orange, green, white and golden accents give the artwork a powerful luminosity. Strong black outlines and stained-glass-like colour fields contrast with the organic movement of leaves, flowers and curved forms. The faces appear to grow from nature, while animal and cosmic elements take on human qualities. In this way, the artwork expresses the continuous interaction between humans, animals, nature and the larger rhythm of life.

Up close, the artwork reveals a second and exceptional visual layer. The composition is constructed from exactly 67,600 carefully placed mini images derived from 290 unique paintings from the MikoArt portfolio. Each miniature contributes its own colour, structure and detail. From a distance, these thousands of fragments merge into one coherent painting; at close range, the existing MikoArt oeuvre becomes visible as a world within the artwork.

This approach gives the piece a distinctive position within contemporary digital art: a new original literally constructed from fragments of earlier MikoArt creations. It unites digital painting, photo mosaic and the artist’s existing oeuvre within one layered composition.
