About this work

In this painting I present Elvis Presley in a richly decorated gold frame as an almost mythical figure. His face is built up from facets of light and colour, as though he were at once human being and icon. The American flag forms the background: a symbol of his origins, his fame and the dream he embodied. Colourful butterflies float around him, symbols of transformation, freedom and transience.
