About this work

As an artist I wanted to capture Louis Armstrong not only as a musician, but as a source of life, colour and movement. For me he is not a still portrait but an explosion of energy that still resounds today. His trumpet is the centrepiece. Not simply an instrument, but an extension of his soul. The gold catches the light as though every note were becoming visible.
