About this work

Symmetry in Flight presents an abstract, symmetrical composition strongly reminiscent of the form of a butterfly. From the exact centre, colourful layers unfold outwards, as though the canvas were gently pressed in and then sprang open again. The colours — purple, yellow, green, blue, red and turquoise — lie over one another in flowing, transparent bands. They seem to move like ribbons, creating depth and a subtle three-dimensional effect.
