In this painting I present a poetic and playful street-art scene of a woman and a man as astronauts standing facing one another and holding each other's hands. They are executed in black and white, crisp and graphic, as though sprayed onto a weathered wall with stencils. Their space suits contrast strongly with the soft, warm background. Above them floats a pink balloon in the shape of a moon, complete with craters, held on a thin string. Around the figures small red hearts float, giving the image a clear emotional charge. The pink glow behind the moon works as a halo and reinforces the romantic, almost dreamlike character.
The background consists of an aged wall with cracks, stains and rough texture, emphasising the street character and the transience of the surroundings. That rawness forms a fine contrast with the tender gesture between the astronauts. The painting seems to play with the idea that love and connection can exist even in an infinite, cold space. By combining astronauts — symbols of distance, isolation and technology — with hearts and a balloon, an image arises that is both moving and lightly ironic. The whole feels like a modern declaration of love, caught between science, fantasy and human emotion.
