In this painting I present a loving, poetic rendering of the evolution of humankind, with love as its end point and driving force. From left to right we see a series of silhouettes representing the development of humanity and consciousness: from a stooped, primitive figure to an upright modern human being. The figures are executed soberly in black and white, almost as shadows, which makes them feel timeless and universal. The wet cobblestones below reflect their forms, as though past and present were touching one another.
At the end of the evolutionary sequence stands a girl. She forms the emotional climax of the work. In her hands she holds a bright pink candyfloss — soft, light and playful — surrounded by small hearts. This accent of colour breaks through the monochrome row and symbolises love, longing and procreation. Where evolution stops at physical progress, something greater begins here: connection.
The man approaching her is no longer an abstract silhouette but a human being drawn by love. The candyfloss serves as a metaphor for affection, attraction and the fragile sweetness of life itself. The girl stands still, open and inviting; she represents the future, new life, and the reason evolution acquires meaning at all. The painting thus conveys a gentle but powerful message: humankind evolves not only through strength or intellect, but through love, relationship and procreation. Love here is not incidental, but the ultimate goal of human development.
The blue border forms part of the Epoxy Liquid Gloss and is not a physical wooden frame.
