Origami Relief

About this work

Origami Relief presents an abstract, geometric relief reminiscent of folded paper or origami. The surface consists of a crisp grid of square planes, but each plane is subtly pleated, creased or domed, creating a strongly three-dimensional effect. Light and shadow play the leading part: sharp folds catch the light, while deep pleats cast soft shadows and so suggest movement within a fixed structure. The palette is rich and warm, with orange, yellow and pink alternating with cool tones such as turquoise, blue and purple. These colours do not blend harshly into one another but seem to shift from plane to plane, as though each square carried an emotion or a temperature of its own. Together they form a harmonious yet lively whole.

The painting balances between order and spontaneity: the strict geometry of the grid contrasts with the playful, almost organic deformations of the planes. It evokes associations with tactility and handwork, as though you could touch the surface and feel the folds. At the same time the work radiates modernity, with an almost digital precision. As a whole the painting feels like a frozen moment of movement — a colourful composition in which structure, light and colour come together in a dynamic, contemporary abstract image.
