About this work

Origami Mandala presents an abstract, radially symmetrical composition recalling a flower, a mandala or a folded origami form. From the exact centre, sharp, pointed forms radiate outwards, like layers of folded petals. The structure is complex and layered: overlapping planes seem to slide over one another, creating a sense of depth and movement. The palette is warm and lively. Yellow and gold dominate the centre and run outwards into pink, purple, orange and olive green, with accents of turquoise and soft blue here and there. The colours flow into one another with an almost marble-like texture, giving the image an organic, almost luminous quality.

The repetition and symmetry provide calm and harmony, while the sharp forms and intense colours add tension and energy. The whole evokes associations with growth, transformation and inner dynamism, as though you were looking at a moment of unfolding or an explosion of colour and form brought to a standstill.
