Woven Structure presents a crisply symmetrical, abstract composition recalling a plaited or woven structure. The image is built up from rectangular planes and soft, pixel-like gradations of colour that together form a grid with a clear central point. The colours are predominantly cool and muted: blues, lilacs and greys alternate with accents of yellow, red and green. These subtle colour contrasts provide depth and an almost three-dimensional effect, as though the planes were slightly curved or pressed forward. At the centre a cross-shaped accent of light appears, acting as a visual anchor and reinforcing the symmetry. The whole radiates order, balance and calm, but at the same time a certain complexity. Through the soft transitions and the layered structure the image seems continually in motion, as though the forms were slowly sliding into one another. The painting evokes associations with digital weaves, architecture or an abstract mosaic, in which engineering and harmony come together.
