About this work

Symmetry in Flight presents an abstract, symmetrical composition strongly reminiscent of the form of a butterfly. From the exact centre, colourful layers unfold outwards, as though the canvas were gently pressed in and then sprang open again. The colours — purple, yellow, green, blue, red and turquoise — lie over one another in flowing, transparent bands. They seem to move like ribbons, creating depth and a subtle three-dimensional effect. The centre acts as a focal point where all the colours come together and then spread out in mirror image in four directions.

The rounded corners and the soft shadowed edge give the work a framed, almost sculptural quality, as though the form were emerging from the canvas itself. The whole radiates balance, transformation and harmony: powerful yet serene, mathematical yet emotional. The painting invites the viewer to reflect on movement and change — a moment in which colour, form and symmetry together evoke a sense of growth and freedom.
