About this work

Mechanical Iris presents an abstract, radially constructed image strongly reminiscent of an eye or a mechanical iris. At the centre is a dark core, surrounded by fine, concentric lines that radiate outwards like a network or spider's web. From this midpoint symmetrical, propeller-like forms unfold, evoking a sense of rotation and energy. The colours are cool and technical in nature: turquoise, blue-green, grey and accents of yellow and white. These tones give the work a futuristic, almost digital presence. Through the transparent layers and repeating patterns depth arises, as though you were looking into a luminous mechanism or a cosmic instrument.

The whole balances between the organic and the artificial: on the one hand it resembles a flower or an eye, on the other a precision instrument or a turbine. The painting radiates concentration, observation and movement, and invites the viewer to lose themselves in the hypnotic centre.
