About this work

Radiant Fracture presents an explosive, almost sculptural abstraction that seems to float in a neutral space. From the centre countless sharp, layered strips and planes radiate outwards, as though the work were built up from thousands of thin ribbons or crystals frozen in motion. The colours are dominated by fresh yellows and greens, alternating with accents of turquoise, white, purple and soft pink. These bands of colour overlap one another and create a rich interplay of depth, light and shadow. The whole looks both organic and technical: it may recall a flower in full bloom, an explosion of energy or a three-dimensional data structure.

The dynamism is powerful and radial, but not chaotic. Despite the apparent wildness there is a clear equilibrium around the centre, so that the work radiates a sense of calm and tension at the same time. The painting invites the viewer to explore it from every angle, as though it might unfold or move further at any moment.
